The solid, native, Eastern white cedar of the chair is naturally light, strong, and incredibly durable, whether finished or not. Its stainless steel fixtures will not rust, ever.

The chair has an important design history and has been called by many names: the Southwest, Adirondack, High Peaks and Westport Chair. A version designed by Thomas Rietveld was part of the "De Stijl" arts movement which focused on the essentials for form and design.
